Another slice of soul bliss that has been lost in the abyss for years, the perfect psychedelic soul track "You Don't Have To Worry" by Doris and Kelley from '67. Big thanks to the unmatched, dedicated blog Derek's Daily 45 for unearthing this gem, the old lady and I have been listening to it incessantly. If anyone has any info on this 45, please let me know!

Earth and Fire

Finally back online, been busy lately with work and whatnot, but now it's time for a little taste of heavy Dutch proggy goodness. Yes, that's right, Earth and Fire's '70 S/T debut. Think Shocking Blue but heavier with a prog twist. Rad! Wyld Chyld recommended the first track on the album "Wild and Exciting" which is very aptly titled. A titanic heavy riff with crazy prog changes and great vocals from lead singer Jerney Kaagman. I then soon discovered how good the whole album was and just had to post it, considering this all I've been listening to the last week. Green & Wood

Another piece of slowly growing on me good shit, here's another underrated release from '09 by LA doom purists Green & Wood. If you take Pentagram, Witchcraft, and sprinkle in a little Melvins and Big Business you would come up with something close to Green & Wood. But even that doesn't really describe them thoroughly, there's also hints of psych and 70's prog arrangements that creep in from time to time. They're coming through Austin tonight, so I'm going downtown to tune in and probably trip out!

But this time the compilation hails from the country of India, as my furl Wyld Chyld explains it: Think Bollywood hippie exploitation soundtracks mixed with freaky Ennio Morriccone style trippyness and balls out crazy dance music! Christmas has came early, I forgot I had this mix of Kool Keith tracks that I made a couple years back- so I'm now giving it to you. A perfect soundtrack to your holiday season equipped with the best Matthew has to offer. Kool Keith has made around roughly 36 albums, and 16 are represented on this mix. As most of you know KK has went under many different aliases over the span of his career, changing between the mostly three styles of Dr. Dooom, Dr. Octagon and Kool Keith. Some of you may have never heard The Cenobites before, the album Keith and The Godfather Don made shortly after the Ultramagnetic MC's disbanded- it's really good. Dr. Octagonecologyst and Sex Style are easily my favorite albums, but throughout his extensive catalog lies some off the wall and great shit, especially his early work. Mikey's Furl Tracks Mix

Just got a present in the mail from my main man Mikey who always brings the heat, three mixes of obscure soul, punk and garage. I love getting music in the mail- it was like Christmas morning today, a bunch of new shit to play with. Here's the mix he made especially for the blog, a killer mix of old punk/garage with bands such as Silver Chalice, Death and the Afrika Korps. This is why trading mixes is the best, I've never heard San Diego's The Penetrators before, and the track "Warlord" is a fucking rad rocking, gritty jam and probably my favorite on the mix. Man, when I come across bands like this I think: Holy shit how have I never heard this before? And: I've been living without this in my rotation for how long? Pure inspiration to always keep diggin', always new stuff out there to find. Thanks again Mikey, expect something in the mail here eventually- good luck with the new gig and enjoy the crib.
